Text to Speech Tool – All are not the same

Today the number of text to speech product in the market has increased dramatically. This flood of options has also brought with it more competition among manufacturers for consumers. As a result manufactures have begun producing softwares that have capabilities and options that can be easily differentiated. If you are in the market looking of a good text to speech tool you should know of the software variety in the market. Each have their own specification, features, and levels of complexity.

In order for you to get the best text to speech tool you will have to understand what the software has to offer and then connect its application with your own needs and situation. This analysis and comparison of the software can be seen in ether the software/installation stage, options, and application/use.

For example in the first stage that is the software/installation phase one will realize that most of the softwares provide different instructions and require the hardware devises to fall under certain specification. The differences in the software’s can be seen in the different requirements they have in order for the program to be compatible with your machine.  For example, there are different amounts of memory requirements for different programs. Some software take up a considerable amount of memory space and other do not, you will have to check your system to see how much space you have available and whether the program can fit in the system. Similarly, there are also considerations such as processing speed and compatibility with your operating system.  When looking at a text to speech tool, these are some of the immediate things to examine.

Beyond the technical elements, there are some basic functional areas where a text to speech tool can differ in the application/use stage.  Do you need a tool that can work with a large number of programs (word processor, email, internet, etc), or just a basic word editor?  Do you want a program that is available only online, or do you need the software available on your computer so you can access it offline?

Other differentiations are feature related.  One text to speech tool may offer a variety of accents, while another does not.  Some use graphics and offer a “talking head” or avatar to accompany the text being read.  While these features seem like minor details, they can (and should) be considered seriously before you make a purchase.
